I saw this at an estate auction, and to be truthful, the immediate attraction was the gold value.
 
Once I had obtained it (the auction was online), I appreciated the actual simple elegance of the piece. Good thing too, because I got carried away and purchased it for well over its bullion value. Glad I did -- it is an amazingly detailed art piece. If had been its creator I would have been quite chuffed with myself.
